NYFW Spring 2014: Alice + Olivia

Hey all-

As promised, I'm back giving you my thoughts on my favorite SS2014 runway collections. Up today, is one of my absolute favorites, Alice + Olivia. I am huge fan of the line since it launched in 2002. All of the pieces are so girly & feminine, which I love. This collection was no different- promy & cocktail dresses. "It's preppy meets pretty," says Stacy Bendet, the line's designer. Everything about A+O is commercial, which I find refreshing. I would actually wear most of these pieces without any hesitation. Below, you'll see a few of my favorite looks. Which do you like best?!

OOTD: Eurotrash Fashion Show Pt. 1

Hello-

I decided to take a break from posting about New York Fashion Week to show you what I wore to a fashion show last night. Eurotrash is a store located in Carytown and last night they had a little get together & fashion show (more pics in pt. 2). I fought the urge to buy a new outfit for this event & scoured through my closet. Naturally, I wanted to wear sequins, afterall, it was a nighttime event. I knew my jacket from The Limited was perfect. I also like pairing this jacket with my Sam Edelmans that I was lucky enough to find at Marshalls a few months ago for a mere $45!! I also got raves reviews for my distressed boyfriend jeans & decided to go for a more casual look. I was pleasantly pleased with the outcome.Would you wear this outfit or something similar?

Outfit Details
Jacket: The Limited
Tank: American Eagle
Jeans & Ring: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Sam Edelman via Marshalls
Bracelet: Derng
Watch: Michael Kors

I'll be back to reviewing my favorite runway shows next week. I'm off for the weekend to watch my Hokies beat ECU's Pirates. LET'S GO!!!!!! Have a fab weekend!

NYFW Spring 2014: Monique Lhullier

Hey all-

For spring, the Monique Lhillier collection showcased beautiful shirtdresses, tees, sweaters, pencil skirts & gowns all adorned with lace, appliques, sequins. The day before the show, Lhullier said, "Women have busy lives. Their clothes need to be real." This line reflected on just that. All pieces are extremely versatile. Think shirtdress with a detachable collar. I may not be a huge fan of pairing pink & orange together, but that's the great thing about these pieces- they're separates & can be worn separately. Here are just a few of my faves.

NYFW Spring 2014: Herve Leger by Max Azria

Hey all-

When I think of Herve Leger, I immediately picture bodycon dresses. This collection created by Max & Lubov Azria kindof strayed away from just that. While the line still showcased figure-hugging dresses, a few of the items didn't resemble typical Herve Leger. Some dresses had zippers, that allow one to zip down (make the dress more fitted) or unzip to add volume. Genius idea, but a lot of the pieces also featured huge bustier type belts that basically swallowed the models' torsos. Honestly, this is one of my least favorites of the season. If only more bodycon dresses were featured since that's pretty much synonymous with Herve Leger. I still found a few pieces I fancied, check them out below (& yes, one isn't bodycon).

NYFW Spring 2014: Christian Siriano

Hey all-

OMG!!!! Christian Siriano did a fantastic job. I am in absolute awe. This collection is nothing short of amazing.Typically, Siriano is known for his exquisite evening wear, but this line stands out due its chic separates- shorts, jackets, skirts. I just love the feathers and floral organza, not to mention the black & white raffia dress. Below are only a few (I wanted to share the entire collection) of my faves from this line. Which look do you like best?!

NYFW Spring 2014: Rebecca Minkoff

Hey all-

Rebecca Minkoff's collection was inspired by Latin American women. Skirts & dresses featured intricate floral embroidery, but modernized with mesh panels. Other pieces resembled frayed artisanal blankets. Each look was completed with backpacks or gladiator sandals. This entire collection definitely had a bohemian feel to it as well. Personally, I felt some of the pieces were a little too sporty for my liking, but it was still a great show. Here are some of my faves.

NYFW Spring 2014: Jason Wu

Hey all-

Oh, Jason Wu! This collection boasts of sequins, flowy fabrics, light colors, lace- very feminine. There was a lot of sparkle in this line, which I absolutely love. Dresses- resembled slips, see-through fabrics, ground skimming hems & of course, more sequins!Outstanding job. Here are some of my faves!

NYFW Spring 2014: Nicole Miller

Hey all-

Colors & embellishments are two words to describe Nicole Miller's collection. This line was comprised of girly prints, pencils skirts, embellished everything& I couldn't love it any more than I do. All of the clothing's silhouettes were very figure flattering, making it the perfect label for women of all shapes & sizes.

NYFW Spring 2014: Kate Spade

Hey all-

Kate Spade New York did not disappoint! The line was full of early sixties inspired garments in florals, lady-like prints, pink twead. I've always been a huge KSNY fan due to the femininity factor. Here are a few of my favorite pieces.

NYFW Spring 2014: Marissa Webb

Hey all-

"I'm a tomboy in a tutu," says Marissa Webb. Here collection definitely reflects this statement. She mixes masculine pieces with feminine skirts & lace. Unlike most fashion shows, a lot of Webb's items are wearable- check out this tweed shorts suit below- FAB! Mixing army green & black may be one of my favorites from the entire show (wearing an army green tank & black blazer as I'm writing this). I am a huge fan of pairing this champagne colored satin with pink. The collection was full of monochromatic looks as well. Honestly, this may be me the best collection Webb has done since leaving J.Crew. What are your favorite pieces?!

NYFW Spring 2014: BCBGMaxAzria

Hey all-

BCBGMaxAzria kicked off fashion week with a show full of femininity. The collection was full of flowy gowns, watercolor prints, peplums, embellishments & relaxed cuts. Below are two of my favorite items. This black finale gown is absolutely stunning- chiffon, tulle, sparkles- I LOVE it! Another dress I can't get enough of is this lovely blue, white & beige beauty. It would be perfect for a spring wedding. What are your faves from BCGBMaxAzria?!

New: TJ Maxx/Target

Hey all-

A few weeks ago, I was on a mission. & by mission, I mean I just really wanted to buy something. I was looking for nothing particular, but I did find some great pieces to add to my closet.

First, I headed to Marshalls, for the first time ever, I left empty handed. I couldn't find a thing, like, not even a scarf. Feeling defeated, I headed to its sister company, TJ Maxx. Luckily, I found this floral tank & black peplum tank. I believe I spent a mere $32! Although, I have yet to wear either one, I know both can be styled perfectly with item I already own.

Lastly, I couldn't drive by Target without stopping (le duh). I ran in very quickly & in 5 minutes tops, managed to find a white v-neck (can never have too many of these) & this blue tunic with birds. I love this tunic & I plan to go back to snag one in every color. I know that sounds excessive, but when you find something you love, why not stock up?!

An a completely new note, it's New York Fashion Week!!!! While I won't be attending (one day, hopefully), I will be live streaming some of my favorite shows & posting my thoughts. The full NYFW schedule can be found here. Which shows are you dying to see?!

Music Monday

Hey all-

Normally I'm not a big fan of rap music, but I cannot stop listening to this song. It may be because JT's in it. Oh well, enjoy Jay-Z!
