Making A Statement

This has been the most trauma-tizing week ever!! As if being required to wear flats everyday wasn't horrible enough, the company I work for updated the dress code. Basically, I'll have to wear a black company shirt with dark jeans & get this, "Hawaiian Blue" Vans (featured at the end of this post). This look is unprofessional & I have no desire to work for a company that supports unprofessionalism. Needless to say, before this policy kicks into gear, I'll be settling in at a different company. There's no way in hell I'm wearing Vans. A company who decides to take away my fashion creativity deserves not to lose a great employee. Plus, I never wear tennies other than at the gym & I'm not starting now. Traumatic huh?! Told you. (& yes, I am crazy enough to quit a job over bad fashion.)

But anyway, I chose a simple outfit & palette the other day. I haven't posted this necklace on my blog yet & wanted it to take center stage. Can't really go wrong with black, white & grey. What do you think?!

Tier Today, Gone Tomorrow

I wore this outfit yesterday. I'm smiling because it was FRIDAY! Nothing is more exciting than knowing you have a few days away from the office. I went for something a little casual- skinny pants, flats, cardi. I chose the tiered top to add a little oomph to an otherwise boring ensemble. My favorite photo of this outfit is the last one. I like how it shows the movement of my top & the sequins on the pockets of the cardi. It just goes to show that nothing is ever too simple when it comes to my clothes!

No Smiles, Must Be Monday

I wore this outfit to the office a few weeks ago. I threw it together basically as I was running out of the door. I must say, I'm slightly pleased with the look. When it comes to making outfits work appropriate, I believe a cardigan is one of the best ways to do so. Luckily in my line of business, I don't have to be so corporate/professional & I can get away with wearing anything except jeans. I just wish I didn't have to wear flats. Career change?!

I also tried not to smile in these photos & seem mysterious, but it only makes me look mad, so I'll smile from now on. What are your go-to's for work?!

Borrowed From The Boys: Preppy

My outfit today was inspired by, get this, the boys. Preppy ones to be exact. Since moving, I;ve noticed lots of guys taking the time to add little unquie touches to their outfits (trying to catch up with the ladies, fellas?!) There's something I really like about rolled up khakis & bow ties. I though I'd put my own little spin on this look because after all I am a very girly girl. Instead of wearing loose khakis, I opted for a skinny legging like pair and cuffed them four times. I also couldn't bring myself to sport a bow tie & decided on a statement necklace. Of course, I'd never rock oxfords or loafers, no matter how "in" they are. So pairing this look with leopard flats made it more me. I plan on styling a similar look- I'm thinking jeggings, sandles & a scarf. Stay tuned!!

In case you were wondering, I would not date a guy who dressed like this. I would simply admire his impeccable style from afar or attempt to make him my new bff. Just btw.

Sneaky Sneaky

Outfit post!! I borrowed the office's camera today on my lunch break. Shhh, don't tell. Hopefully, I'll be posting more since I've discovered this camera. My coworker & I literally ran outside for like 5 seconds & took these. We're so sneaky. I think next time, we'll play with the settings because the lighting is definitely off. But we'll figure it out. Enjoy the quick post & anticipate the next.

Black, White & Thai

Yay, an outfit post!!!! I actually found these on my computer. I originally wasn't going to post these because my hair looks weird (it's in a ponytail). But since these are the only pictures I have, I thought I'd share. I wore this outfit to work (duh) & out for Thai food a fews ago. It was my first time having Thai food & i must say, it was delish. I've been wanting to go back & I think this just may be the week it happens.

Well, I need to start preparing myself for the upcoming week, blah. Hope you had a great weekend!!

Prime Time

I just realized how I completely left out which primers I use in my Make-up Madness post. Oops!! (Actually this is what happens when I’m using to finish a post before getting caught at the office.)

The three primers I rotate are Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer Spf 15 zand L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer Cream.

I prefer the Hard Candy and Smashbox when I need light coverage or when I’m only going to me made up for a short period of time. The L’Oreal provides thicker coverage, which I like when I need long-lasting wear.

The past few days, I’ve been using NYX Cosmetics Studio Perfect Primer. I’m very indifferent about it. I think it’s making my make-up slide off & my skin appear shiny. I’ll give it a few more tries & I’ll keep you updated on the turnout.

Currently Coveting: Fall 2011

Fall 2011 Wishlist

As I've mention before, my camera is dead. Apparently, the warranty does not cover "incidentals" meaning, I'm not really sure when I'll be getting a new camera and can post outfits. Until I figure this out, I though I'd share with you some of the items I am dying to have in my closet this season.

Most of these pieces are perfect for day or night, which is exactly what I need. The flats are for work only, of course. I am obsessed with chiffon anything right now & cannot wait to stock pile it into my closet. I recently broke my wallet & really like this Hobo one. These twill pants (& many more like them) will also come in handy while at the office. For the past few seasons, I've wanted a faux fur vest a la Rachel Zoe. & I've finally committed to purchasing one. Lastly, I can't go wrong with an LV tote or chunky gold jewelry- these don't need an explanation.

Essentially, this is my fall wishlist. What are you craving for fall?!

Make-Up Madness

I’ve gotten a few inquiries about my makeup. First, thanks for even noticing, let alone commenting on it! Second, I’ve decided to share what products I use. Since my camera is broken, I can only show you shots of the item I use online and not my actual make-up stash.

After I cleanse and all that good stuff, I ALWAYS start with primer. I’ve got naturally oily skin so anything I can do to prevent this is a bonus. This may not work for everyone, bur what works best for me is to rotate between a few primers daily. These are the ones I use:

I typically do not wear foundation. I simply dust my face with Bare Minerals Matte Foundation and of course the Mineral Veil. I like to use Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in black . I line both the top & bottom rims. I don’t normally wear mascara daily, but when I do I reach for Diorshow. I curl my lashes everyday (mainly because if I don’t, they rub against the lenses of my sunglasses, which feels weird lol). I think the curler I currently use is made by Revlon, but I’d much rather have this gold one by Shu Uemura.
When it comes to blush, the more the better. My favorites are pinkish/mauve-y ones. I don’t’ have a specific brand for this, I go by color because it’s hard to find the perfect shade, so I generally mix a few together. I then top whatever blush I use with a few light layers of Nars Laguna Bronzer.
For a casual look, I simply use Simth's Rosebud Salve. To keep my lips smooth, a few times a week I exfoliate with Smashbox Emulsion Lip Exfoliant. I’ve just recently gotten into wearing lipstick. I try to wear a little color, but I still haven’t quite found the perfect shade. I keep experimenting.

And there you have it, my make-up. I recommend these products, which can all be found at either a drugstore or my fave, Sephora.

There May Be Hope

I actually picked out this skirt & flats at Target while I was hoping to find some leftover Missoni pieces. My Target was completely raped of the designer, which made me extremely sad. But there's some hope! According to the store, Target will be replenishing its Missoni stock- just be sure to check stores early & often. YAY!!

This is a typical outfit I wear to the office. Unfortunately the skirt is a tad too big, but fortunately it's a size 2. All my gym/cardio time is paying off- my body's never been so toned. Luckily, I remembered I had this Theory shirt which complements the skirt very well.

Speaking of Theory, I wrote an article for CocoKouture featuring Oliver Theyskens' Spring 2012 collection. Be sure to check that out, it should go live tomorrow.
